HOW TO BECOME A VOLUNTEER

Jennie Jones is the Wilton Link Volunteer Recruitment officer.

She can be contacted on the Wilton Link dedicated telephone number 01722 741241 or by email at the address shown on the list of trustees.

On request she will provide a potential volunteer with an application form which is very straightforward to complete. The completed form together with two passport size photographs should be sent to the Chairman. His address is on the form.

The form asks for the names of two referees. The Chairman will write to these two referees.

When satisfactory references have been received the Chairman will write to you confirming that you have been accepted as a volunteer.

The volunteer Recruitment Officer will then send you a welcome pack containing all the details that you need to become an operational volunteer.

It is mandatory that all new volunteers be cleared by the Criminal records Bureau (CRB). This is straightforward and nothing to worry about. The Chairman will send you a disclosure application form and an explanatory leaflet. You will have to make contact with an employee of Wiltshire County Council who will arrange to come and see you and take from you the completed disclosure application form. Even though you might already hold a CRB certificate for other work that you do the chances are that you will have to go through the process again since the certificates are not usually portable.

You are able to start work as a volunteer while the CRB process takes place
